How do you replace broken and install new lift lock clamp on fluval 404 filter?
Actually you probably are not going to like this answer, but I am going to be honest. The Fluval 404 is a older model canister filter that is no longer being made by Fluval. Since they are not making them anymore, they are not making replacement parts for them either. I have one also, that came with a used tank I bought. I am not using it just for this reason and that I feel this model is not a good filtration system. But sometimes if you go to a aquarium supply store (not the chain stores like petsmarts or petco) they may have some parts left over and sometimes even have a few extra broken one's that they can pull scrap parts off just for this reason. But I warn you, this is probably the number 1 part thats breaks on cansiter filter's. You may not be able to get this part at all and new will be out of the question. The 404 was actually a badly designed model prone to breaking and was very user unfriendly. You can try to replace the parts but really this filter is almost not worth the trouble anymore to even locate the parts and try to repair it. Also it is only cycling about 325 gallons of water per hour, there are lots of power filters (hang on the back types) on the market that will cycle more gallons per hour and give you cleaner, healthier water (due to bio-wheels) for half the price of a canister. That is unless you just cant live without a cansiter. I hoped this helped or at least let you know how difficult you may find it to locate this part. I wish you the best of luck though.
